Final 26-Man Squads: Every Team, Every Pick (Live Tracker)
Live squad tracker for all 48 World Cup 2026 nations — who's locked in, who's still provisional, and who is racing the June 2 FIFA deadline.
Last updated: 2026-05-19. We'll refresh this through kickoff.
Three weeks out from the Estadio Azteca opener on June 11, only a handful of the 48 nations have a final 26-man list. France beat the field by ten days — Didier Deschamps named his squad on 2026-05-14, putting Kylian Mbappé back at the top of the team sheet and leaving Eduardo Camavinga and Randal Kolo Muani out. Brazil followed on 2026-05-18. Almost everyone else is between provisional and silent.
The clock that matters is 2026-06-02. That is FIFA's hard deadline for each team to register its final 23–26 players, including a minimum three goalkeepers. A team can name 26 in 2026, up from the traditional 23 — a change FIFA carried over from the pandemic-era expansion, and one that has tightened depth competition across every nation as managers now genuinely need a fourth goalkeeper conversation and an extra utility defender.
This page is built to refresh. The tracker below is grouped by the 12 World Cup groups, with each team flagged confirmed, provisional, or awaited. We are deliberately conservative: a name only goes into a roster when the federation has formally published the player list. Where rumour-mill teams of 26 are circulating but no federation press release exists, the team stays "awaited".
The state of squad announcements
A normal World Cup squad cycle runs in two phases:
- A provisional list — usually 30 to 35 names — submitted to FIFA. For 2026, that deadline was 2026-05-11 (already passed).
- A final 26 trimmed before the FIFA registration deadline of 2026-06-02, often timed to coincide with the team's last pre-tournament friendly.
Most federations are still in the middle of that funnel. As of today:
- France — final 26 announced 2026-05-14. Mbappé fit and starting; Dembélé in; Camavinga (knee) and Kolo Muani omitted.
- Brazil — final list announced 2026-05-18 (Dorival Júnior).
- Scotland — announcement window 2026-05-19 (planned).
- Germany — announcement window 2026-05-21 (planned).
- England — Thomas Tuchel's first World Cup squad expected 2026-05-22.
- Spain — Luis de la Fuente expected 2026-05-25, after Spain's domestic season ends.
- Everyone else — by the 2026-06-02 deadline at the latest.
That means around two-thirds of the 48 squads will land in the week of 2026-05-25 to 2026-06-02 — a single seven-day window in which the bulk of the tournament's roster news lands. Set notifications.
Confirmed, provisional, awaited
Confederation by confederation, what to expect
UEFA (16 teams)
The European federations tend to announce earliest because their domestic seasons end first. By 2026-05-26, expect final lists from at least France, Germany, England, Spain, Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, Croatia, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Scotland, Czechia, Sweden, Türkiye and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The four UEFA playoff winners (BIH, CZE, SWE, TUR) only confirmed their tickets through the March 2026 playoff path and will likely sit closest to the June 2 deadline.
CONMEBOL (6 teams)
Brazil moved first (May 18). Argentina under Lionel Scaloni is the headline pending decision: Messi's role, the goalkeeping shape behind Emiliano Martínez, and whether veteran Ángel Di María makes a third World Cup squad. Uruguay under Marcelo Bielsa always brings unexpected names; Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay are mid-window announcements.
CONCACAF (6 teams, 3 hosts)
The three host nations — USA, Mexico, Canada — have the longest acclimatisation period built into their plans and the least urgency to announce. Mauricio Pochettino's USA is the most-watched squad on the continent: the GK choice (Matt Turner vs Patrick Schulte vs Zack Steffen), the Tyler Adams fitness question, and whether Christian Pulisic's club workload reshapes the right side. Mexico's Aguirre call on the Ochoa goalkeeping legacy will set headlines. Canada under Jesse Marsch has Alphonso Davies as the locked star and a long list of MLS bubble players. Panama, Haiti, Curaçao are still in announcement-prep mode.
AFC (9 teams)
Japan and South Korea announce early by AFC standards — expect both in the 2026-05-26 to 2026-06-01 window. Iran, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Qatar, Iraq will mostly sit on the deadline. Watch the debutants — Uzbekistan and Jordan — for first-ever World Cup squad lists, every one of which is genuinely new history.
CAF (10 teams)
Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Algeria, Ghana, Cape Verde, DR Congo. The CAF rhythm is to bunch announcements around the last week of May after the African club season ends. Morocco is the most-watched: Walid Regragui's roster after the 2022 semi-final run carries different expectations now.
OFC (1 team)
New Zealand under Darren Bazeley. Smallest squad pool in the field; expect early announcement once the A-League finals window closes.
The biggest names already confirmed
Across the two final lists already in (France and Brazil), the headline confirmed picks are:
- Kylian Mbappé (France) — captain, fit, named to a third World Cup at age 27.
- Ousmane Dembélé (France) — confirmed alongside Mbappé. Camavinga out makes Dembélé's midfield-creative role even more central.
- Brazil's core — full list to be reconfirmed against the federation announcement (we'll refresh below the tracker).
These are the only specific squad picks our research sheet verifies as of 2026-05-19. Every other "leaked" name from press tickers should be treated as a rumour until the federation announces.
The biggest names still being decided
A handful of fights are live across multiple national setups:
- Spain's Lamine Yamal. Hamstring tear with Barcelona in late April. Recovery is on track but de la Fuente is reportedly holding him out of warm-ups. Expected fit for the WC opener on 2026-06-13 vs Cape Verde.
- France's goalkeeping order. Deschamps's final list keeps three GKs (Mike Maignan, Brice Samba, Lucas Chevalier the likeliest order — to be confirmed against federation release).
- Brazil's midfield shape. Dorival's selection between Bruno Guimarães, Casemiro, Joelinton, André shapes whether Brazil press or sit.
- England under Tuchel. Tuchel's first World Cup squad. Watch for under-23 inclusions and the GK call between Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson and James Trafford.
- Argentina veterans. Messi confirmed in spirit but not yet on a federation press release. Ángel Di María, Otamendi, Acuña on the bubble.
- USA leadership group. Tyler Adams's fitness, Pulisic's role, Weston McKennie's club issues — Pochettino has been candid that the May camp is selection-defining.
We list none of these in the tracker roster until the federation confirms. The rumour mill is loud right now; the tracker stays quiet.
How we update this page
Every federation announcement triggers a roster patch into the JSON dataset that drives the tracker above. The status pill moves from awaited to provisional when a federation publishes a 30-man preliminary list, then to confirmed when the 26-man list is FIFA-locked. The verified-at stamp in the page footer updates each refresh.
If you spot a confirmed announcement we haven't picked up — particularly for the smaller-coverage federations — please flag it; we will reconcile against the FIFA squad portal and update.
